Amruta Fadnavis Meets Family of Worli Hit-and-Run Victim Kaveri Nakhwa

Mumbai, Maharashtra – Amruta Fadnavis, wife of Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, met with the Nakhwa family, who were victims of a tragic hit-and-run incident in Worli, Mumbai. The incident occurred when Kaveri Nakhwa and her husband were returning home on a scooter after buying fish. Their scooter was hit by a luxury car, resulting in injuries to both and the eventual death of Kaveri Nakhwa during treatment.

Amruta Fadnavis spoke with Kaveri’s husband, Pradeep Nakhwa, and their children, Amruta and Yash Nakhwa, offering her support and assuring them of the best possible assistance.

Legal Proceedings

On July 16, Mihir Shah, the accused in the hit-and-run case, was presented before the Sewri court. The police requested further custody for Shah, but the court denied it, placing him in judicial custody until July 30. Shah has been uncooperative during the investigation, refusing to answer critical questions about his actions and whereabouts after the incident.

The police added three sections of the Motor Vehicle Act to the original FIR against Shah, citing expired vehicle documents and blackened glass. Despite 27 witnesses having recorded their statements, the police emphasized the need for further questioning to advance the investigation.

Details of the Incident

The Mumbai Police revealed that Shah had consumed alcohol at two different locations on the night of the incident. He was arrested in Virar and brought to Sewri Court. Shah had been absconding since the incident, and the police formed 14 teams to apprehend him. Rajrishi Singh Bidawat and Shah’s father, Rajesh Shah, were also arrested for their involvement.

The victim, Kaveri Nakhwa, was a resident of Worli Koliwada. Her husband, who was riding the scooter, also sustained injuries. The luxury car involved in the incident belonged to a political leader from Maharashtra’s Palghar.
