Amritsar Police Busts Smuggling Ring with USA-Based Leader Bhola Havelian

The Amritsar police have successfully dismantled a narcotics network, arresting three individuals who were operating under the instructions of a smuggler based in the United States, Bhola Havelian. The Director General of Police (DGP) Punjab Police shared this news on their official X handle, highlighting the close coordination with central agencies.

Bhola Havelian is the brother of Ranjit Cheeta, who was previously involved in smuggling 532 packets of heroin seized by the Customs Department at ICP Attari in July 2019. During the recent operation, the police recovered six pistols and 10 magazines. An FIR under the Arms Act has been registered at Police Station Ajnala, and investigations are ongoing to trace further connections.

On June 20, the DGP Punjab Police also announced the busting of a trans-border illegal arms and narco-terrorism hawala racket by the Amritsar Commissionerate Police. This operation led to the arrest of eight individuals and the recovery of 4.1 kg of heroin, three pistols, 45 live cartridges, Rs 2.07 lakh in drug money, and seven vehicles. An FIR under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act (NDPS) has been registered, and further investigations are in progress.
