Amit Shah’s Two-Day Visit to Chhattisgarh to Review Anti-Naxal Operations
New Delhi, August 21: Union Home Minister Amit Shah will visit Chhattisgarh for two days starting August 24. During his visit, he will review anti-Naxal operations with police chiefs and chief secretaries from states affected by Naxal insurgency.
Meetings in Raipur
Shah will arrive in Raipur on the night of August 23. On August 24, he will hold meetings with officials from Chhattisgarh and neighboring states to discuss security and development in areas affected by Left Wing Extremism (LWE). Key attendees will include Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan, Director Intelligence Bureau Tapan Deka, and CRPF Chief Anish Dayal Singh.
Inauguration of NCB Office
On August 25, Shah will inaugurate the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) office in Raipur after a review meeting in the morning.
Reduction in LWE Violence
According to the Ministry of Home Affairs, LWE violence has significantly decreased. The number of affected districts has reduced from 126 in 2013 to 38 in 2024. The most affected states include Chhattisgarh, Odisha, and Jharkhand.
Government Initiatives
The central government has invested Rs 6,908 crore in capacity building in LWE-affected states over the past decade. Additionally, Rs 1,000 crore has been allocated for critical infrastructure in security camps.
