Amit Shah Thanks Jammu and Kashmir for Historic BJP Victory in Assembly Polls

Union Home Minister Amit Shah expressed his gratitude to the people of Jammu and Kashmir after the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) achieved its highest ever vote percentage in the region’s assembly elections. The BJP secured 29 seats, surpassing its previous record of 25 seats in 2014, with a 25.64% vote share according to the Election Commission of India.

In a message on social media, Amit Shah thanked the people of Jammu and Kashmir for their support and congratulated BJP workers for their hard work. He emphasized the BJP’s commitment to the development and security of the region, aiming to make it terror-free and prosperous like other parts of India.

Shah also praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the peaceful conduct of the elections and criticized the Congress party for past election rigging. He highlighted the contrast between the current peaceful elections and the 1987 elections, which he claimed were marred by Congress-led manipulation.

Additionally, Shah congratulated the Election Commission, Jammu and Kashmir Administration, and security forces for ensuring a transparent and peaceful election process. He noted that this was the first time since the 1980s that such a peaceful election had taken place in the region.

In the elections, the National Conference-Congress alliance won an absolute majority with 49 seats, while the BJP secured 29 seats. The Communist Party of India (Marxist) won 1 seat, and the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) led by Mehbooba Mufti won 3 seats. The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) also gained a foothold with Sajad Gani Lone winning in Handwara.
