Amit Shah Talks About Census and Naxalism in Raipur

Union Home Minister Amit Shah addressed a press conference in Raipur, Chhattisgarh, announcing that the delayed decadal census will take place at an appropriate time. He assured that the details, including the timing, would be announced once decided. Shah’s statement comes after the census, initially scheduled for 2021, has yet to commence.

During the press conference, Shah also discussed the government’s efforts to combat Naxalism, asserting that the country will be free from Naxalism by March 2026. He noted a significant reduction in deaths due to Naxal violence over the years.

Shah participated in an inter-state coordination meeting with Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, Chief Secretaries, and Director Generals of Police of Chhattisgarh and neighboring states to discuss left-wing extremism. He assessed measures against Naxal insurgency and the progress of infrastructure projects in regions affected by Left Wing Extremism (LWE).

On August 25, Shah will inaugurate the Raipur Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) office following a review meeting. His visit to Chhattisgarh started on August 23 and includes various engagements, including a visit to Mahaprabhu Vallabhacharya Ashram in Raipur.
