Amit Shah Promises to End Naxalism by 2026 in Chhattisgarh Meeting
Raipur (Chhattisgarh) [India], August 24: Union Home Minister Amit Shah announced that the government aims to eliminate Naxalism in India by March 2026. Shah made this statement during an inter-state coordination meeting with Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, Chief Secretaries, and Director Generals of Police from Chhattisgarh and neighboring states.
Meeting Highlights
The meeting focused on assessing measures against Naxal insurgency and advancing infrastructure projects in regions affected by Left Wing Extremism (LWE). Shah emphasized the importance of implementing government schemes and overcoming challenges in these areas.
Shah stated, “100% saturation of Central and Chhattisgarh government schemes in Naxal-affected areas, the progress of infrastructure projects, and removing challenges faced during such projects were the main topics of this meeting. The time has come to carry out the final assault along with ruthless politics to tackle leftism and Naxalism.”
Progress and Future Plans
Shah highlighted the significant reduction in violence over the past decade, noting a 70% decrease in security personnel and citizen deaths. He expressed confidence that the fight against Naxalism is in its final phase and will be concluded by March 2026.
“We were successful in generating faith in development against the ideology of left-wing extremism among people. We worked for two purposes: to establish the rule of law and develop the region,” Shah added.

The meeting included chief secretaries and police chiefs from states affected by Naxalism, such as Andhra Pradesh, Jharkhand, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Odisha, Telangana, and West Bengal.
On August 25, Shah will inaugurate the Raipur Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) office following a review meeting. Shah is on a three-day visit to Chhattisgarh, which began on August 23.
Visit to Mahaprabhu Vallabhacharya Ashram
Earlier, Shah visited the Mahaprabhu Vallabhacharya Ashram in Raipur, accompanied by Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai and Deputy CM Vijay Sharma. He shared his experience on social media, expressing his admiration for Vallabhacharya Ji’s devotion to Lord Krishna and his contributions to the Indian devotional tradition.
