Amit Shah Praises Parsi Community for Their Contributions to India

Union Home Minister and BJP leader Amit Shah praised the Parsi community, saying they contributed to the country in every sector without demanding ‘minority’ rights. Speaking at a media function in Mumbai, Shah said, “There are many people who fight for the rights of the minority people. I want to tell them that if there is a minority in the minority, they are Parsis. They never protested for their rights but lived to fulfil their duties. They did not demand anything for themselves; they made contributions to this country.”

Shah detailed the contributions of the Parsis in India, stating, “Parsis are in every field, be it law, industry, the development of fintech, the IT sector, in the atomic sector, or in victory in Bangladesh (war), you will find a Parsee standing silently.” He added, “Without demanding anything, they (Parsis) contributed to the nation and they kept giving. I pray to god that minorities are like you.”

Shah also recounted a historical story, saying that when Parsis came to Gujarat for asylum, the local Raja told them that his kingdom had already a high population and asked them how they could live there. The Parsis responded that like sugar dissolves in milk, they would also integrate into society.
