Amit Shah Plans to End Naxalism by 2026 with 4000 CRPF Personnel in Bastar
Union Home Minister Amit Shah has announced a plan to eliminate naxalism in India by March 2026. To achieve this, four battalions of the Central Reserve Police Forces (CRPF), comprising 4000 personnel, will be deployed in Bastar for anti-insurgency operations.
Significant Reductions in Deaths
During an inter-state coordination meeting on August 24, Shah noted a 70% reduction in the deaths of security personnel and a 69% reduction in civilian deaths due to naxalism. He stated, “I believe that our fight has reached the end phase and by March 2026, we will be able to free the country completely from naxalism.”
Coordination and Infrastructure
The meeting included Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, Chief Secretaries, and Director Generals of Police from Chhattisgarh and neighboring states affected by left-wing extremism. Shah assessed measures against naxal insurgency and the progress of infrastructure projects in the Red Corridors within nine troubled states.
Preparations in Bastar
Chhattisgarh Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sharma confirmed on Monday that all necessary measures would be taken for area dominance against naxalism. He stated, “Whatever is required for area dominance, everything will be done. We are moving forward with a big goal. All this is being done on the call of the Union Home Minister and under the guidance of Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai so that everything is under control in a reasonable time.”
