Amit Shah Opens New Narcotics Control Office in Raipur, Chhattisgarh

Union Home Minister Amit Shah inaugurated a new zonal office of the Narcotics Control Bureau in Raipur, Chhattisgarh. During his visit, Chhattisgarh Assembly Speaker Raman Singh expressed optimism about eradicating Naxalism and narcotics in the state following discussions with Shah.

Shah emphasized a zero-tolerance approach to drugs, aiming to fulfill the Prime Minister’s vision of a drug-free country. He highlighted the shift from natural to synthetic drugs, which are more harmful and expensive. Shah also noted that Chhattisgarh’s marijuana usage is 4.98%, significantly higher than the national average of 2.83%.

Chhattisgarh’s location, sharing borders with seven states and proximity to the Bay of Bengal, makes it a key area for drug trafficking. The new office aims to tackle these challenges effectively.
