Fast Track Immigration Launched at Delhi Airport
By Union Home Minister Amit Shah
New Delhi [India], June 22: Union Home Minister Amit Shah has launched the ‘Fast Track Immigration – Trusted Traveller Programme (FTI-TTP)’ at Terminal-3 of Indira Gandhi International Airport. This is the first initiative of its kind in India, aimed at providing more amenities for Indian nationals and Overseas Citizens of India (OCI) passengers coming from other countries.
Key Features of FTI-TTP
The program aims to make international travel easier and more secure by developing world-class immigration facilities. It will use automated gates (e-Gates) to speed up the immigration process, minimizing human intervention.
During the event, Amit Shah stated, “This facility will be available free of cost for all passengers.” He also mentioned that the program is a visionary initiative by the Central government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, designed to benefit Indian citizens and OCI cardholders.
Implementation Phases
The FTI-TTP will be implemented in two phases:
- Phase 1: Covers Indian citizens and OCI cardholders.
- Phase 2: Will include foreign travelers.
The program will be launched at 21 major airports across India. In the first phase, it will start at eight major airports: Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Kochi, and Ahmedabad.
How to Enroll
To enroll in the scheme, applicants must register online with their details and required documents. After verification, a White List of ‘Trusted Travellers’ will be created. Biometrics will be captured at the FRRO office or during airport passage. The registration will be valid until the passport expires or for five years, whichever is earlier.
At the e-gates, passengers will scan their boarding pass and passport. Once their identity and biometrics are authenticated, the e-gate will open, granting immigration clearance.
