Amit Shah Launches Cybercrime Prevention Initiatives in New Delhi
New Delhi [India], September 9: Union Home Minister Amit Shah will launch key initiatives for the prevention of cybercrime in the national capital on Tuesday. This event marks the first foundation day celebration of the Indian Cybercrime Coordination Centre (I4C).
Cyber Fraud Mitigation Centre
Shah will dedicate the Cyber Fraud Mitigation Centre (CFMC) to the nation. This centre, located at I4C in New Delhi, includes representatives from major banks, financial intermediaries, payment aggregators, telecom service providers, IT intermediaries, and law enforcement agencies from states and Union Territories. They will work together to tackle online financial crimes.
Samanvaya Platform
Shah will also launch the Samanvaya Platform, a web-based module designed to facilitate joint cybercrime investigations. This platform will serve as a one-stop portal for data repositories, data sharing, crime mapping, data analytics, and coordination among law enforcement agencies across the country.
Cyber Commandos Program
The Union Home Minister will inaugurate the ‘Cyber Commandos’ program. This initiative will establish a special wing of trained Cyber Commandos in states, Union Territories, and Central Police Organisations to counter cyber security threats. These commandos will assist in securing the digital space.
Suspect Registry
Shah will also inaugurate a suspect registry, which will be created based on the National Cybercrime Reporting Portal (NCRP) in collaboration with banks and financial intermediaries. This registry aims to strengthen fraud risk management in the financial ecosystem.
These initiatives are part of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a ‘Cyber Secure Bharat’. The I4C wing of the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) was established on October 5, 2018, to address cybercrime issues nationwide. The I4C headquarters in New Delhi was inaugurated on January 10, 2020, and has been designated as an attached office under the MHA since July 1, 2024.
The event will be attended by Union Minister of State for Home Bandi Sanjay Kumar, Union Home Secretary, Director Intelligence Bureau, Special Secretary (Internal Security), Chief Secretaries and DGPs of states and Union Territories, senior police officers, government officials, bank representatives, fintech experts, media, Cyber Commandos, NCC, and NSS cadets.
