Union Home Minister Amit Shah paid tribute to the brave police officers who sacrificed their lives for the country’s safety on Police Commemoration Day at the National Police Memorial in Delhi. He acknowledged their role in protecting the nation from Kashmir to Kanyakumari and Kutch to Kibithu.

Significance of Police Commemoration Day

Director of the Intelligence Bureau, Tapan Kumar Deka, also paid homage, highlighting the sacrifice of 10 CRPF jawans on October 21, 1959, which led to the annual observance of this day. Last year, 216 policemen lost their lives, and since independence, 36,468 have made the ultimate sacrifice.

National Police Memorial

The National Police Memorial, dedicated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2018, features a Central Sculpture, the ‘Wall of Valour,’ and a Museum. It stands as a tribute to the strength, resilience, and selfless service of police personnel. The memorial is open to the public, with special ceremonies held on weekends.
