Amit Shah Discusses Future of Policing with New IPS Officers

Union Home Minister Amit Shah spoke to the 2023 batch of Indian Police Service (IPS) probationers in New Delhi. He emphasized Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a developed India by 2047, which includes a terror-free and drug-free nation with strong internal security and protection of human rights.

The 2023 IPS batch consists of 188 trainees, including 54 women, who have completed their initial training. Shah highlighted the increased responsibility of this batch compared to previous ones, urging them to lead the next generation of policing.

Shah noted significant improvements in security, particularly in Jammu and Kashmir, the North East, and areas affected by Left Wing Extremism, with a 70% reduction in violence. He stressed the importance of protecting citizens’ rights and ensuring timely justice through new laws and technology.

Shah also discussed the implementation of Crime and Criminal Tracking Network and Systems (CCTNS) and the use of scientific evidence in legal processes. He emphasized the role of police officers in safeguarding constitutional rights and the importance of citizen security.

The event was attended by several dignitaries, including the Union Home Secretary and directors of the Intelligence Bureau and Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy.
