Amit Shah Criticizes Rahul Gandhi and Congress Over Veer Savarkar Remarks in Mumbai
Union Home Minister Amit Shah, during an election rally in Mumbai, criticized Rahul Gandhi and the Congress party for their comments on Veer Savarkar. He challenged Uddhav Thackeray, leader of Shiv Sena (UBT), to have Rahul Gandhi praise Savarkar and Balasaheb Thackeray. Shah highlighted ideological differences within the MVA alliance, urging Maharashtra’s people to notice these contradictions.
Shah accused Rahul Gandhi of disrespecting the Constitution and Babasaheb Ambedkar, citing an incident where Gandhi waved an empty Constitution cover. He also criticized Congress for ‘appeasement politics,’ referencing a letter by Congress leader Nana Patole supporting reservations for Muslim minorities, which Shah argued is unconstitutional.
Shah reminded the audience of Rahul Gandhi’s past remarks against Savarkar, which led to a defamation case. He also criticized Uddhav Thackeray for aligning with parties opposing the abrogation of Article 370, the Ram Janambhoomi temple construction, and the CAA and UCC.
During the rally, Shah launched the BJP’s Sankalp Patra, offering 25 guarantees, alongside Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. The Maharashtra assembly elections are set for November 20, with the opposition MVA coalition challenging the Mahayuti alliance.
