Union Home Minister Amit Shah has announced that the central government will open 16 new Kendriya Police Kalyan Bhandars in Manipur to provide essential commodities at reasonable prices. This initiative is in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s commitment to support the people of Manipur.

Currently, there are 21 existing Bhandars, and the new additions will include eight centers in the hills and eight in the valley. These Bhandars will be open to the public starting from September 17, 2024.

Additionally, authorities in Manipur’s Bishnupur, Imphal West, Imphal East, and Thoubal districts have relaxed curfew restrictions from 5 am to 6 pm to allow residents to purchase essential items like medicines and food. However, the relaxation does not apply to gatherings, large-scale movements, or protests.
