Amit Shah Announces New Forensic Science University in Haryana for Speedy Justice

Union Home Minister Amit Shah announced changes to British-era laws to ensure speedy justice in India. Speaking at an event in Panchkula, Haryana, Shah highlighted the collaboration between the Haryana government and the National Forensic Science University (NFSU) to establish a center of excellence.

Shah explained that the new laws mandate forensic team visits for crimes carrying a sentence of seven years or more, which will increase the demand for forensic experts. The NFSU will help meet this demand by creating trained manpower.

He also mentioned that NFSU campuses have been opened in nine states and plans are underway to expand to 16 states. This expansion aims to speed up crime-solving and improve conviction rates.

Shah emphasized that having a laboratory, university, and training institute on the same campus will simplify training for both instructors and trainees. The Government of India will support the training in forensic science at its own expense.

The new forensic infrastructure will benefit police officers and judges in Delhi, Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, and Jammu and Kashmir.
