Union Home Minister Amit Shah and his wife Sonal Shah visited the famous Lalbaugcha Raja in Mumbai to offer prayers during the ongoing Ganesh Chaturthi festival. They also visited Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde’s official residence, Varsha Bungalow, and the home of Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.

Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut expressed strong objections to Amit Shah and BJP officials’ visit to Mumbai, accusing them of undermining the city’s identity and resources. Raut criticized the increasing wealth of Lalbaugcha Raja, mentioning a gold crown worth Rs. 17 crores donated by an industrialist. He emphasized that the prestige of God does not depend on material offerings but on the faith of devotees.

Ganesh Chaturthi, a ten-day festival that began on September 7, celebrates Lord Ganesha, the ‘God of New Beginnings’ and the ‘Remover of Obstacles.’ The festival is marked by devotion and enthusiasm across Mumbai and Maharashtra, with homes and public pandals adorned with decorations, prayers, music, and festive chants. The streets are filled with vibrant processions and traditional rituals, creating a joyful and exciting atmosphere.
