New Delhi, June 26: Union Home Minister Amit Shah expressed confidence in achieving the goal of making India a drug-free nation on the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking. Shah stated that the government, under PM Narendra Modi’s leadership, is committed to this goal with a whole-of-government approach.

Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh also emphasized the state’s commitment to eradicating drug abuse and trafficking. He flagged off a bike rally to raise awareness about the importance of the War on Drugs and the fight against cross-border illegal trafficking.

The International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, observed annually on June 26, aims to create awareness about drug-related issues and promote cooperation to combat drug abuse. This year’s theme, “The evidence is clear: invest in prevention,” highlights the importance of science, research, human rights, compassion, and understanding the social, economic, and health implications of drug use.
