New Delhi, India – On July 22, BJP leader and Rajya Sabha MP Ashok Chavan responded to Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s remarks about former Union Minister and Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Sharad Pawar. Amit Shah accused Sharad Pawar of “institutionalising corruption” during a BJP conclave in Pune, Maharashtra.

Ashok Chavan stated, “When the Home Minister of the country gives a statement, then naturally there is seriousness, truth in it.” He dismissed allegations made by Supriya Sule, calling them political and lacking proof.

During his speech, Amit Shah called Sharad Pawar the “biggest mastermind” of corruption in Indian politics. He criticized the opposition alliance, Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA), and Sharad Pawar over an alleged milk powder import circular. Shah assured that no milk powder would be imported in the next five years, accusing the MVA of spreading lies to win elections.

Maharashtra is expected to hold elections for its 288-member legislative assembly as the current government’s tenure ends in 2024. The Election Commission has yet to announce the dates.
