Indian Men’s Hockey Team defender Amit Rohidas will not play in the semifinal match against Germany on Tuesday. He received a one-match ban for a foul during the quarterfinal match against Great Britain.

Incident Details

In the second quarter of the match, Rohidas was given a red card for raising his stick and hitting opponent William Calnan’s head. As a result, India played the rest of the match with one player down.

Official Statement

The International Hockey Federation (FIH) released a statement saying, “Amit Rohidas was suspended for one match for a breach of the FIH Code of Conduct which occurred during the India vs Great Britain match on August 4.” The statement added that Rohidas will miss match No. 35, India’s semifinal match against Germany.

Despite the setback, the Indian team, led by Harmanpreet Singh, defeated Great Britain in a thrilling quarterfinal match. The scores were tied 1-1 at the end of regulation time, but India won the shootout 4-2 to advance to the semifinals.
