Ambadas Danve Suspended for Using Bad Language in Maharashtra Council

Ambadas Danve, the Leader of Opposition in the Maharashtra Legislative Council, was suspended for five days on Tuesday for using foul and abusive language against Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) legislator Prasad Lad. The suspension motion was proposed by Maharashtra Parliamentary Affairs Minister Chandrakant Patil and passed with a majority in the Legislative Council.

Deputy Chairperson Neelam Gorhe read the suspension order, stating that Danve’s behavior tarnished the image of the Council and could set a bad precedent if ignored. The order also banned Danve from entering the Vidhan Bhavan premises for the duration of the suspension.

The BJP, along with the Mahayuti alliance, held a protest in the Maharashtra assembly against Danve. The protest included Minister Girish Mahajan, Radhakrishna VK Patil, Pravin Darekar, Nationalist Congress Party’s Anil Patil, and Shivsena leader Manisha Kayande.

Former Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray reacted to the suspension by claiming it was a conspiracy by the ruling Mahayuti alliance and that Danve was not given a chance to present his views in the House. Thackeray also defended Rahul Gandhi, stating that he did not believe Gandhi insulted Hinduism during his speech in the Lok Sabha.

Earlier, BJP member Prasad Lad accused Danve of using abusive language and demanded strict action. Lad also called for a resolution against Rahul Gandhi for his comments on Hinduism, which Danve argued was not relevant to their discussions in the Maharashtra Legislative Council.
