In Faridabad, Haryana, Amar Singh, a candidate from the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) for the Nilokheri Assembly constituency, has joined the Congress. This move was made in the presence of Congress leader Partap Singh Bajwa. Bajwa expressed his gratitude to Singh and his supporters for backing the Congress candidate in Nilokheri. He stated, “The BJP will benefit if votes are divided in Haryana. I welcome Amar Singh into the Congress party.”

Upcoming Elections

With the elections scheduled for October 5, leaders from major parties like BJP, Congress, JJP, INLD, AAP, and BSP are actively seeking support. Nuh, a region that faced unrest during riots in July-August 2023, is also in focus. The Congress candidate for Nuh is Aftab Ahmed, who won the seat in 2019, while the BJP has fielded Sanjay Singh, a previous winner from Sohna.

BJP’s Ambitions

Union Minister Manohar Lal Khattar expressed confidence that the BJP will form a government for a third consecutive term, a feat no other party has achieved in Haryana. In the 2019 elections, the BJP won 40 out of 90 seats, forming a coalition with the JJP, which secured 10 seats, while Congress won 31 seats.

Voting will occur on October 5 from 7 AM to 6 PM, with results announced on October 8.
