Alex Soros Meets Bangladesh’s Interim Leader Muhammad Yunus

In New York, Alex Soros, son of billionaire George Soros, met with Muhammad Yunus, the chief advisor to Bangladesh’s interim government. Alex Soros described Yunus as an “old friend” of his father and praised him for guiding Bangladesh towards a future of “equity and fairness.”

Bangladesh recently experienced significant political upheaval, leading to the ousting of Sheikh Hasina amid widespread student protests. These protests escalated into a major anti-government movement, resulting in the formation of an interim government led by Yunus, who was sworn in on August 8 after Hasina fled the country.

Sheikh Hasina accused the United States of involvement in the uprising, claiming she could have stayed in power if she had ceded Saint Martin Island to the US. The US State Department dismissed these allegations as “laughable” and “absolutely false.”

Yunus addressed the United Nations General Assembly, commending the youth of Bangladesh for their role in the protests and criticizing the previous regime as “autocratic” and “undemocratic.” However, his speech was met with protests outside the UN Headquarters in New York, where demonstrators voiced their opposition to Yunus’s leadership.
