Albino Gomes Joins Jamshedpur FC: A New Chapter with Coach Khalid Jamil
Jamshedpur FC has strengthened their goalkeeping line-up by signing seasoned goalkeeper Albino Gomes on a two-year deal, with an option to extend based on performance. Standing tall at 6 feet 2 inches, Gomes brings a wealth of experience and an impressive record of 32 clean sheets in the ISL and I-League.
Gomes’ career highlight came in 2017 when he played under Khalid Jamil’s Aizawl FC, leading them to a phenomenal I-League victory with 8 clean sheets in 18 games. The 30-year-old goalkeeper also played a crucial role in Sreenidi Deccan FC’s 2022-23 I-League season, helping them finish as runners-up with 7 clean sheets.
On joining Jamshedpur FC, Gomes said, “I’m thrilled to be back in the ISL with Jamshedpur FC, a club steeped in history and passion. The energy of the fans here is electric, and I’m proud to be a part of this team. I feel fortunate to play under the guidance of coach Khalid Jamil, and I’m confident that I can earn his trust back with hard work and performances.”
Gomes began his youth career at Sporting Clube de Goa and Salgaocar FC before making his ISL debut with Mumbai City FC in 2015. He later joined Aizawl FC, Delhi Dynamos (now Odisha FC), Kerala Blasters FC, Churchill Brothers, and Sreenidi Deccan FC.
Head coach Khalid Jamil expressed his confidence in Gomes, stating, “I’ve had the pleasure of working with him before, and I know his capabilities and what he can bring to the table. Acquiring Albino Gomes is a significant boost. His wealth of experience in both ISL and I-League, combined with his physicality and ability to integrate, makes him an asset.”
