Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Jiu-Jitsu Championship: Al Ain Jiu-Jitsu Club Triumphs

The first round of the Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Jiu-Jitsu Championship ended on a high note in Abu Dhabi, with Al Ain Jiu-Jitsu Club emerging as the top winner. The event, held at Mubadala Arena, spanned three days and featured intense competitions across various age groups and categories.

Winners and Competitions

Al Ain Jiu-Jitsu Club secured the most medals, followed by Sharjah Self-Defence Sports Club and Baniyas Jiu-Jitsu Club. The championship included U18, adult, and masters categories on Friday, kids’ and girls’ U12, U14, and U16 divisions on Saturday, and boys’ U12, U14, and U16 categories on Sunday.

Notable Attendees

The event was graced by several prominent figures, including Dr. Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, UAE Minister of State for Foreign Trade; Abdulmunem Alsayed Mohammed Alhashmi, Chairman of the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation; and Jean-Claude Van Damme, Belgian martial artist and actor.

Support and Future Prospects

Abdulmunem Alhashmi expressed gratitude to UAE leaders for their support, emphasizing that it has been crucial in promoting jiu-jitsu in the country. He praised the excellent organization and wide participation, noting the sport’s growing popularity and the Federation’s success in expanding its reach.

Jean-Claude Van Damme shared his excitement about the event, highlighting the values of courage, discipline, and self-confidence that jiu-jitsu promotes. He encouraged young athletes to continue improving and spreading the sport globally.

Looking Ahead

The first round was a resounding success, drawing large crowds and fostering community engagement. The second round will take place at Coca-Cola Arena in Dubai on July 14, featuring competitions in the No Gi division.
