Akhilesh Yadav Visits Hospitalized AAP Minister Atishi During Hunger Strike

Samajwadi Party chief and MP Akhilesh Yadav visited AAP Minister Atishi at Lok Nayak Hospital in New Delhi after her health deteriorated during an indefinite hunger strike against the water crisis in Delhi. Atishi was admitted to the hospital late on June 25, and her blood pressure and sugar levels had dropped dangerously low.

AAP MP Sanjay Singh accompanied Yadav during his visit. The Samajwadi Party and Aam Aadmi Party are part of the opposition’s INDIA bloc. Yadav praised Atishi’s bravery and criticized the central government for not providing necessary assistance and creating obstacles for Delhi’s Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.

Atishi began her hunger strike on June 22, protesting for Haryana to release Delhi’s water share. AAP claims Haryana is supplying 100 million gallons less water daily, affecting 28 lakh people in Delhi. AAP leader Saurabh Bharadwaj informed that Atishi’s blood sugar level fell to 36, leading to her hospitalization. The hunger strike has been called off, but AAP will continue to raise the issue in Parliament.
