Akhilesh Yadav Questions Government After 116 Die in Uttar Pradesh Stampede

Tragic Stampede in Uttar Pradesh: 116 Dead, Akhilesh Yadav Questions Government

New Delhi, July 2: A tragic stampede at a religious event in Hathras, Uttar Pradesh, resulted in the death of 116 people and left 18 others injured. Samajwadi Party MP Akhilesh Yadav criticized the government for not ensuring adequate safety measures despite knowing about the large gathering.

Government Response

Aligarh Commissioner Chaitra V confirmed the casualties and stated that treatment is being provided to the injured. The Uttar Pradesh government announced a compensation of Rs 2 lakhs for the families of the deceased and Rs 50,000 for the injured, who will also receive free treatment.

Leaders’ Reactions

Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his condolences and wished for the speedy recovery of the injured. He assured that the Uttar Pradesh government is providing all possible help to the victims. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath ordered a thorough investigation and dispatched senior officials to the site to monitor the situation.
