Akhilesh Yadav Criticizes UP Government’s Actions Against UPPSC Aspirants

In Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav criticized the Yogi Adityanath-led government for its police action against UPPSC aspirants. He accused the government of “playing with their future” and supported the aspirants’ demands, calling them justified. Yadav highlighted the police’s use of force against students protesting for jobs in Prayagraj.

Protests by UPPSC Aspirants

Students preparing for the Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission (UPPSC) exams held a candlelight march in Prayagraj, marking the third day of protests. They demanded that the Provincial Civil Services (PCS) and Review Officer/Assistant Review Officer (RO/ARO) exams be conducted in a single shift.

Supreme Court’s Verdict on Bulldozer Action

Akhilesh Yadav welcomed the Supreme Court’s decision regarding the use of bulldozers, stating that it should stop following the verdict. The court ruled that demolitions should not occur without a 15-day notice and adherence to statutory guidelines. The judgement emphasized that the executive cannot act as a judge and punish individuals by demolishing their properties.

The Supreme Court’s decision came after the UP government’s frequent use of bulldozers against those accused of serious crimes, earning Chief Minister Adityanath the nickname ‘bulldozer baba.’
