Akhilesh Yadav Criticizes BJP’s Double-Engine Government in Ghaziabad

In Ghaziabad, Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav criticized the BJP-led “double-engine government” during a campaign for the upcoming by-elections. He claimed the government has failed the city, stating, “The first engine never even reaches Ghaziabad, and the second engine barely operates from Lucknow.” Yadav alleged that the BJP was unsettled by its recent defeat in Ayodhya, leading them to avoid elections there. He expressed confidence in the INDIA alliance winning all nine by-election seats.

Earlier, Yadav commented on the new manual for appointing the Director General of Police (DGP) in Uttar Pradesh, which includes a minimum two-year tenure and a nominating committee led by a retired High Court judge. He questioned if those implementing the arrangement would remain in power for two years, suggesting it might be an attempt to control power from Delhi.

Yadav also criticized the BJP for postponing by-elections, claiming it was to prevent people affected by “Maha-Berozgari” from voting. The Election Commission rescheduled by-elections in Uttar Pradesh, Kerala, and Punjab to November 20, with counting on November 23 and completion by November 25.
