Akhilesh Yadav Criticizes BJP Over Jayaprakash Narayan Tribute Blockage

On Thursday evening, Samajwadi Party (SP) chief Akhilesh Yadav visited the Jayaprakash Narayan International Centre (JPNIC) in Lucknow, despite being denied permission by the Lucknow Development Authority (LDA) due to security concerns. The LDA cited the site as a construction area with scattered materials and potential insect infestations.

Yadav, who has Z-plus security, was advised against visiting the site. However, upon arrival, he accused the Uttar Pradesh government of blocking access with tin sheets and alleged that a wall was erected to prevent tributes to Jayaprakash Narayan on his birth anniversary.

Yadav criticized the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), claiming they harbor ill will towards freedom fighters like Narayan. He expressed that the BJP’s actions symbolize closed-mindedness and accused them of not honoring revolutionaries due to their lack of participation in the freedom struggle.

The Samajwadi Party shared a video showing workers installing barriers at JPNIC’s entrance, condemning the BJP’s actions as an attack on democracy. They criticized the UP government’s attempt to restrict access to JPNIC, highlighting it as an example of dirty politics.

Jayaprakash Narayan is remembered for leading a coalition against the Congress party during the Emergency, advocating for ‘Sampoorna Kranti’ or total revolution.
