Akhil Sheoran Shines at ISSF World Cup Final

The International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) World Cup Final is underway in New Delhi, India, at the Dr. Karni Singh Shooting Range. Akhil Sheoran, an experienced shooter, won his first World Cup Final medal by securing bronze in the men’s 50m rifle 3 positions event. This achievement adds to India’s medal tally, which also includes a silver won by Sonam Uttam Maskar in the women’s air rifle event.

Ganemat Sekhon Sets New National Record

Ganemat Sekhon, a trailblazer in women’s skeet shooting, set a new national record with a qualification score of 122, surpassing her previous record. She qualified in fourth place for the finals, with American Dania Jo Vizzi taking third and former Olympic champion Diana Bacosi of Italy leading the field.

European Nations Dominate

European countries excelled on the second day of the competition, winning three out of four gold medals. Denmark’s Ibsen Rikke Maeng won the women’s 3P event, while Germany’s Eder Josefine triumphed in the women’s 25m Pistol final. China’s Li Yuehong defended his title in the men’s 25m rapid-fire pistol event, contributing to China’s lead in the medal tally.

Other Indian Performances

Other Indian shooters also performed well, with Vivaan Kapoor, Anantjeet Singh Naruka, and Mairaj Ahmad Khan qualifying for the finals in their respective shotgun events. Maheshwari Chauhan and Bhowneesh Mendiratta finished eighth in their qualifiers.
