India Mobile Congress 2024: A Glimpse into India’s Digital Future

At the India Mobile Congress 2024, Akash Ambani, chairman of Reliance Jio, urged the government to expedite the 2020 draft of the data center policy. He emphasized the importance of keeping Indian data within Indian data centers, highlighting the readiness of Indian companies to establish these centers. Ambani noted India’s rapid transition from 2G to 5G and expressed optimism about the country’s future in 6G technology. He proudly stated that India’s per capita data consumption of 30GB is the highest globally, making it the world’s largest digital market.

Sunil Bharti Mittal, chairman of Bharti Enterprises, praised India’s regained manufacturing spirit over the past decade. He predicted that within 12 to 18 months, 5G connectivity would reach every part of India. Mittal also discussed the company’s efforts to block spam calls and messages, ensuring safe and secure services. He introduced the upcoming Satcom services, which will provide fast-speed internet connectivity across land, sea, and forests, even in remote areas. Mittal also commended government initiatives in semiconductor manufacturing.

Kumarmangalam Birla, chairperson of the Aditya Birla Group, highlighted his company’s support for MSMEs, with over 1.6 lakh MSMEs using the Vodafone-Idea platform to boost economic growth. He mentioned the company’s efforts to curb spam calls and messages and its revival with government backing. The company’s Rs 18,000 crore FPO was oversubscribed seven times, and partnerships with Nokia, Ericsson, and Samsung are set to enhance its growth.
