Ajoy Kumar Receives Support in Jamshedpur East Assembly Election
In East Singhbhum, Jharkhand, Ajoy Kumar, the Congress candidate from Jamshedpur East, expressed gratitude for the overwhelming support from the people and party workers. The first phase of the assembly election in Jharkhand began today. Kumar thanked the voters and party workers, stating, “I have received immense love from the people of Jamshedpur. Good reports are coming from everywhere.”
He emphasized the ongoing battle against a long-standing family influence in the region. Ajoy Kumar is contesting against Poornima Das, the daughter-in-law of former Jharkhand Chief Minister Raghubar Das. Before voting, Kumar visited the Hanuman Temple to offer prayers.
The polling started at 7:00 am, with voters from 43 constituencies in 15 districts participating. The election will decide the fate of 683 candidates, including 73 women. Mock voting was conducted earlier, and visuals showed long queues of voters eager to cast their votes.
The BJP-led NDA aims to challenge the JMM-led coalition. Key candidates include former Chief Minister Champai Soren (BJP) in Seraikela, Ajoy Kumar (Congress) in Jamshedpur East, and Geeta Koda (BJP) in Jaganathpur. The JMM has nominated Mahua Maji from Ranchi. The remaining seats will be contested on November 20, with vote counting scheduled for November 23.
