New Delhi, India, August 15: Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister and National Congress Party (NCP) chief Ajit Pawar shared his vision for the state’s development and discussed the upcoming elections. He emphasized that the Chief Minister of Maharashtra will be from the Mahayuti alliance.

Past Alliances and Future Plans

Ajit Pawar recalled that despite being allies with Congress in 1999, the NCP fought local body polls independently. He mentioned that the NCP was formed on June 10, 1999, and later formed a coalition with Congress. They ran the government for 15 years but contested local body elections separately.

He stated, “We don’t have to see what happened in the past. I am looking forward. We will always respect our Constitution.”

Focus on Development

Ajit Pawar highlighted his commitment to development, especially during the ‘Jan Samman Yatra’. He said, “I decided that I would only talk and discuss development until the Assembly elections take place in Maharashtra.” He mentioned that the Maharashtra budget includes many good schemes, with input from various people, including farmers and young people.

Infrastructure Challenges

When asked about Maharashtra’s infrastructure during the rainy season, Pawar noted that Pune is an old city dating back to the time of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. He acknowledged that various governments have tried their best to improve conditions, but the city’s situation is unique.

Political Careers and Styles

Ajit Pawar commented on the political career of Supriya Sule and compared her style to that of Sharad Pawar. He said, “The political style of everyone is different. There is always a generation gap.”

Upcoming Elections

Regarding the Maharashtra Assembly polls, Pawar asserted, “We will try our best to form the government in Maharashtra with good seats. We are getting a good response from our sisters.” He confirmed that the Chief Minister will be from the Mahayuti alliance, to be decided after the results.

Earlier, on July 21, Ajit Pawar announced that the NCP would fight local body elections independently, despite contesting Lok Sabha and Vidhan Sabha together as Mahayuti. He urged party workers to spread government schemes among people.

The NCP split last year when Ajit Pawar led some MLAs to join the ruling Eknath Shinde Sena-led BJP government. In the Lok Sabha elections, the NCP won one of the four seats it contested, while the NCP-SP won eight of the ten seats it contested. The Mahayuti alliance collectively bagged 17 seats in Maharashtra, with BJP securing nine seats and Shiv Sena seven.
