Ajit Pawar Defends Constitution and Criticizes Opposition’s Promises in Maharashtra

In Pune, Maharashtra’s Deputy Chief Minister and NCP leader, Ajit Pawar, criticized the Opposition for spreading false claims that the BJP-led government plans to change the Constitution and end reservations for vulnerable groups. He emphasized Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s respect for the Constitution, noting Modi’s gesture of bowing to it after taking the oath.

Speaking at an election rally for NCP candidate Sunil Tingare, Pawar highlighted the unity of the Mahayuti alliance, which includes NCP, BJP, and Shiv Sena, in the upcoming Assembly elections. He also addressed the Congress’s promises, such as a scheme similar to the Mahayuti government’s Ladki Bahin Yojana, which he deemed financially unfeasible.

Pawar pointed out that the Congress’s proposed schemes would require 3 lakh crore rupees, potentially halting other developmental projects. Meanwhile, the opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi announced five guarantees, including the Mahalakshmi Yojana, offering Rs 3,000 monthly to one woman per family and free bus travel for women.

The Maharashtra Assembly election is set for November 20, with results expected on November 23.
