Ajinkya Rahane to Build Sports Facility on Sunil Gavaskar’s Old Plot in Mumbai
Indian cricketer Ajinkya Rahane has been given a plot of land in Bandra, Mumbai, to create a sports facility, including a cricket academy. This plot was previously allotted to cricket legend Sunil Gavaskar in 1988 but was taken back by the government in 2022 due to inactivity.
Government Decision
The Maharashtra cabinet, led by Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, decided to lease the 2,000 square-meter plot to Rahane for thirty years. The Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority (MHADA) had recommended this allocation, which was approved by the state cabinet.
