Jammu (Jammu and Kashmir) [India], September 27: Ajay Sadhotra, the National Conference’s candidate for Jammu North, expressed confidence that the government of Congress and the National Conference (NC) will be formed in Jammu and Kashmir with the support of the people. He criticized the BJP for misleading the public and emphasized that Congress and NC focus on employment and education.

Sadhotra also addressed the issue of Shankaracharya Hill, stating that there is no proposal to change its name. Historically, the hill has been known as Shankaracharya Hill and Hariparbat. In 2013, protests erupted when it was alleged that the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) renamed it to ‘Takht-e-Suleman’.

Reacting to Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s remarks that the NC-Congress alliance would follow Pakistan’s agenda, NC Vice President Omar Abdullah countered that the party would have done so 35 years ago if that were the case. He highlighted the sacrifices made by the National Conference over the years.

Earlier, Amit Shah, while addressing a rally in Udhampur, criticized the NC-Congress alliance, alleging it would impose Pakistan’s agenda if elected. He also attacked the ‘Gandhis’, ‘Muftis’, and ‘Abdullahs’ for giving tickets only to their own people and praised Prime Minister Modi for cleaning up corruption.

Omar Abdullah is set to address three public rallies in the Jammu region as part of his campaign for the upcoming Assembly elections. The second phase of the J-K Assembly polls was held on September 25, with the final phase on October 1 and vote counting on October 8. These elections are the first since the abrogation of Article 370.
