In Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, on July 18, Congress state President Ajay Rai responded to Samajwadi Party President Akhilesh Yadav’s recent announcement. Yadav had proposed a ‘monsoon offer’ asking dissidents to bring a hundred MLAs to form a new government in Uttar Pradesh.

Ajay Rai commented that the situation within the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is deteriorating. He mentioned that internal conflicts are becoming more apparent, with different factions supporting leaders like Keshav Maurya and Yogi Adityanath. Rai believes that these issues will worsen over time.

Rai also pointed out that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s performance in Banaras showed a decline in vote percentage, indicating a lack of coordination within the BJP. He suggested that this has caused significant concern within the party.

Meanwhile, Akhilesh Yadav took to social media platform X to announce his offer, stating, “Monsoon Offer: Bring a hundred, form the government!”

On the other hand, Deputy Chief Minister KP Maurya emphasized the importance of the party organization over the government. He stated, “The organization is bigger than the government; the pain of the workers is my pain. No one is bigger than the organization; the workers are the pride.”

Yadav criticized the BJP for focusing on internal power struggles rather than governance. He claimed that the BJP’s internal conflicts are causing the party to falter.

In response, Maurya asserted that the BJP remains strong at both state and national levels and predicted a victory in the 2027 assembly elections, similar to their success in 2017. He dismissed Yadav’s claims, calling the SP’s plans fraudulent and stating that the return of SP’s influence in Uttar Pradesh is impossible.

Currently, the BJP and its allies hold 283 seats in the 403-member assembly, while the SP-led INDIA bloc has 107 seats.
