Optimistic Outlook for Cement Demand

Ajay Kapur, the Whole Time Director and CEO of Ambuja Cements, shared a positive outlook for the company’s future. He expects cement demand to grow by 4-5% in the fiscal year 2025, driven by strong infrastructure projects and the needs of the housing and commercial sectors.

Government Initiatives and Infrastructure Development

Kapur highlighted the impact of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana Urban Housing II, with a budget of Rs 11 lakh crores, and the government’s focus on infrastructure as key factors boosting cement demand. Strategic investments in roads, railways, and urban amenities are expected to drive growth.

Commitment to Sustainability

Ambuja Cements is committed to sustainable growth, planning to increase its green power capacity to 60% of its total power mix. The company is investing Rs 10,000 crores in solar and wind power projects, along with waste heat recovery systems and alternative fuels.

Capacity Expansion and Strategic Investments

With the acquisition of Orient Cements, Ambuja Cements’ production capacity will rise to 97 million tons per annum. This acquisition, along with other strategic investments, will enhance efficiency, resource use, and environmental sustainability. The assets from Orient Cement will strengthen marine logistics and increase market share by 2%.
