In New Delhi, Air Marshal SP Dharkar has been appointed as the new Vice Chief of Air Staff. On Thursday, he paid tribute at the National War Memorial and received a Guard of Honour. He succeeds Air Marshal AP Singh, who will become the next Chief of Air Staff.

About Air Marshal SP Dharkar

Air Marshal Dharkar is a highly experienced fighter pilot with over 3,600 flying hours. He is an alumnus of prestigious institutions including the Rashtriya Indian Military College, National Defence Academy, Defence Services Staff College, and the Air War College in the USA. Commissioned in June 1985, he is a Qualified Flying Instructor and has held various significant positions in the Air Force.

Career Highlights

Throughout his career, Dharkar has commanded a frontline fighter squadron and a Fighter Flying Training Establishment. He has also been involved in Professional Military Education and has served as Assistant Chief of Air Staff (Training) and Air Defence Commander. Notably, he was the first Director General of the Defence Space Agency and has led the Eastern Air Command for the past two years.
