Air India Halts Flights to Tel Aviv Amid Middle East Tensions
New Delhi, India – Amid rising tensions in the Middle East, Air India has announced the suspension of its flights to and from Tel Aviv until August 8. The airline is closely monitoring the situation and providing support to passengers with confirmed bookings, including a one-time waiver on rescheduling and cancellation charges. Air India emphasized that the safety of its guests and crew is its top priority.
The decision comes after the deaths of key figures in the region. Hamas political bureau chief Ismail Haniyeh was killed in an attack in Tehran, Iran, on July 31. Haniyeh had traveled to Tehran for the swearing-in ceremony of Iranian President-elect Masoud Pezeshkian. Additionally, Hamas military wing commander Mohammed Deif was killed in an airstrike in the southern Gaza Strip on July 13, and top Hezbollah commander Fuad Shukr was killed in an Israeli strike in southern Lebanon.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated that Israel has delivered ‘crushing blows’ to its enemies in recent days.
