Air Chief Marshal VR Chaudhari Launches ‘Heroes of the Indian Air Force’ Comic Book
New Delhi, August 28: Air Chief Marshal VR Chaudhari, Chief of the Air Staff, Indian Air Force, launched the first comic book in the series ‘Heroes of the Indian Air Force’ on Wednesday. Anubhav Khanduri, General Manager of the National Film Development Corporation of India, and his team played a key role in developing and designing the book.
The comic book aims to depict the heroic narratives of the Air Force’s role in wars and national history, fostering a sense of duty and aspiration among young readers. The engaging format of visuals and narratives helps simplify complex historical events, making them more accessible and memorable for children.
The 32-page book narrates two stories. The first story, ‘Find your Calling,’ is about the life of Marshal of the Air Force Arjan Singh, a distinguished figure in the history of the Indian Air Force. It highlights his journey from a young cadet to becoming the Marshal of the Air Force, showcasing his bravery, leadership, and dedication.
The second story, ‘The Boyra Boys,’ narrates the epic air battle during the 1971 Indo-Pak War, known as the Battle of Boyra. It emphasizes the heroism of young pilots from the No. 22 Squadron ‘Swifts,’ who earned the moniker ‘Sabre Slayers.’
The comic book also provides information about career choices in the Indian Air Force and the associated eligibility criteria. It will be distributed for free to young children through Command HQs, AF Stations, and IPEV drives. A PDF version will also be available for free sharing on digital media.
Copies of the book were presented to the principals of The Air Force School, Air Force Golden Jubilee Institute, and Air Force Bal Bharti School.
