Air Chief Marshal VR Chaudhari Leads India’s First Multinational Air Exercise in Tamil Nadu
Exercise Tarang Shakti 2024 began on Tuesday in Sulur, Tamil Nadu. Air Chief Marshal VR Chaudhari expressed pride in India’s ability to organize such a large-scale event. He noted that the Indian Air Force (IAF) and all participants have met the challenge successfully.
Chaudhari explained the complexity of the exercise, which involves six different types of IAF aircraft flying alongside Eurofighter Typhoons and Rafale jets from visiting countries. The exercise also includes simulated electronic warfare environments with radars, air-defense systems, and network operations against multiple oppositions.
A German Air Force A-400M transport aircraft participated in the exercise, which is being held in two phases: first in Sulur, Tamil Nadu, and then in Jodhpur, Rajasthan. German Ambassador to India Dr. Philipp Ackermann expressed happiness in joining the IAF and emphasized the growing strategic military partnership between Germany and India.
German Air Force Chief Lt Gen Ingo Gerhartz shared his excitement about participating in the exercise, noting the successful interception by IAF aircraft. The event aims to showcase India’s defense capabilities and provide a platform for international military coordination.
