AIP and JEI Form Alliance for Jammu and Kashmir Elections

The Awami Ittehad Party (AIP) and Jamaat-e-Islami (JEI) have joined forces for the upcoming Jammu and Kashmir Assembly elections. This strategic alliance was announced after a joint meeting attended by AIP Supremo and Lok Sabha MP Engineer Rashid, AIP Chief Spokesperson Inam Un Nabi, JEI leader Ghulam Qadir Wani, and other prominent members.

Both parties emphasized the importance of working together for the benefit of the people in the region. They discussed a seat-sharing arrangement where AIP will support JEI candidates in Kulgam and Pulwama districts, while JEI will back AIP candidates across Kashmir. They also agreed to a ‘friendly contest’ in the constituencies of Langate, Devsar, and Zainapora, with unified support in other areas.

The leadership of both parties has urged their members to spread the message of support for each other’s candidates to ensure a strong representation for the people of Jammu and Kashmir. This collaboration aims to achieve peace, justice, and political empowerment for the region.

Additionally, Congress and the National Conference are also contesting the elections in an alliance, with NC contesting 51 seats and Congress 32 seats. The elections, the first since the abrogation of Article 370, will be held in three phases on September 18, 25, and October 1, with counting on October 8.
