AIMIM and Apna Dal-Kamerawadi Join Forces for Uttar Pradesh By-Polls

Asaduddin Owaisi, the president of the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM), announced that his party will contest the upcoming by-polls in Uttar Pradesh in collaboration with Apna Dal-Kamerawadi. Owaisi stated, “We will contest these elections together with our sister Dr. Pallavi Patel (Apna Dal, Kamerawadi). Our Uttar Pradesh Chief has told me that we will contest on two seats. And the remaining seats would be decided by Pallavi Patel.”

There are 10 vacant assembly seats in Uttar Pradesh, but by-polls have been announced for nine seats. The Milkipur seat in Ayodhya is not included due to a pending election petition. The seats going to the polls include Meerapur, Kundarki, Ghaziabad, Khair, Karhal, Phulpur, Katehari, Majhawan, and Sishamau.

AIMIM’s Plans for Maharashtra and Jharkhand

Owaisi also shared AIMIM’s plans for the upcoming assembly elections in Maharashtra and Jharkhand. He mentioned that Aadil Hasan and Riyaz Ul Hassan Effendi have been sent to Jharkhand to assess the situation and decide on contesting seats. Akhtarul Iman will evaluate the possibility of contesting the Bihar by-election.

For Maharashtra, AIMIM has already declared five candidates and aims to increase its number of MLAs, currently at two. Owaisi expressed hope that the Shinde-Fadnavis government does not receive the mandate, emphasizing the importance of political representation for every community.

The assembly elections in Maharashtra will occur in a single phase on November 20, while Jharkhand’s elections will be held in two phases on November 13 and November 20. The vote counting for both states is scheduled for November 23.
