AIFF President Kalyan Chaubey Receives Threats, Complaint Filed with Delhi Police
The All India Football Federation (AIFF) has lodged a complaint with Delhi police after an unknown individual issued threats to the life and property of AIFF President Kalyan Chaubey. The complaint was filed by AIFF Secretary General Anilkumar Prabhakaran at the Dwarka Police Station on Thursday.
Details of the Threat
On September 10, between 11:30 am and 12:30 pm, the AIFF office received a threatening call. Kritika Rattan, an office executive, answered the call. The caller warned Chaubey to be careful about his decisions and actions, and also threatened his family, mentioning their location in Kolkata. The caller hung up when Rattan tried to identify him.
Background of the Incident
2024 has been a challenging year for Kalyan Chaubey. In March, former AIFF Head of Legal, Nilanjan Bhattacharjee, accused Chaubey of corruption, alleging misuse of AIFF funds for personal expenses. Chaubey has denied these allegations in a letter to AIFF members, addressing various points of contention.
Chaubey’s Response to Allegations
Chaubey clarified that he did not engage in financial wrongdoings, including misuse of legal retainership fees, AIFF credit cards, and interference with judicial bodies. He also addressed concerns about the use of dummy cameras during matches, requesting details of the games in question.
Kalyan Chaubey has been serving as the AIFF president since September 2022.
