AIFF Hosts Women’s Football Strategy Workshop in New Delhi

The All India Football Federation (AIFF) organized a Women’s Football Strategy Workshop in New Delhi, led by FIFA expert Simon Toselli. The event was part of the FIFA Women’s Development Programme and took place on Friday.

Important attendees included AIFF Vice President NA Haris, AIFF Acting General Secretary M Satyanarayan, and AIFF Women’s Committee Chairperson Valanka Alemao. Representatives from state associations, IWL clubs, the Sports Authority of India (SAI), the United Nations, UNESCO, and UNICEF also participated.

Workshop Goals

The workshop aimed to develop a comprehensive strategy for the growth of women’s football in India over the next five to six years. The ultimate goal is to qualify for the 2031 FIFA Women’s World Cup. Discussions focused on national teams, competitions, grassroots development, capacity building, and governance.

NA Haris emphasized the need for discipline and focus to achieve good results in women’s football. M Satyanarayan highlighted the importance of quality work and skills to improve FIFA rankings. Simon Toselli praised AIFF for organizing the workshop and stressed the importance of feedback from various stakeholders.

Future Plans

Valanka Alemao spoke about the importance of inclusivity and teamwork in achieving the goal of qualifying for the 2031 World Cup. Shiv Sharma from SAI expressed hope that Indian women’s football would be ready for the global stage by the time India hosts the Olympics in 2036.
