AIADMK’s Edappadi K Palaniswami Leads Key Meeting in Chennai
On November 1, a significant meeting of district secretaries was chaired by Edappadi K Palaniswami, the General Secretary of the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK), in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. The meeting took place at the residence of Chief Club Revolution President MGR, starting at 10 am.
The AIADMK’s official social media account shared a circular about this meeting, which is expected to focus on strategies for the upcoming local body and state assembly elections in 2026. All district secretaries of the party were present.
Previously, on August 16, an executive committee meeting was held at the AIADMK headquarters in Chennai. During this meeting, chaired by Palaniswami, the committee expressed strong support for his leadership and discussed election strategies. Nine resolutions were passed, criticizing the DMK government for various alleged failures, including issues with ration distribution, increased electricity bills, and halted welfare schemes.
The AIADMK also addressed federal concerns, criticizing the Union Government for neglecting Tamil Nadu in the Union Budget and urging the withdrawal of the 18% GST on life and health insurance. They also called for the Wayanad landslides to be declared a national disaster.
In the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, the DMK secured 22 out of 39 seats in Tamil Nadu, while the AIADMK lost their only seat, Theni, which they had won in 2019 as part of the NDA.
