AIADMK Leader D Jayakumar Questions Police Encounter in Armstrong Murder Case

Chennai (Tamil Nadu) [India], July 15: AIADMK leader D Jayakumar raised doubts about the police encounter that resulted in the death of Thiruvengadam, an accused in the murder of BSP leader K Armstrong. Jayakumar suspects the encounter was staged to silence other accused in the case.

According to the police, Thiruvengadam was killed in a shoot-out near Madhavaram in Chennai after he tried to escape while being taken to recover a weapon used in Armstrong’s murder. The police stated that Thiruvengadam had been following Armstrong for several days before the murder.

Thiruvengadam was previously accused of the 2015 murder of Thennarasu, the BSP district president of Tiruvallur. Armstrong was hacked to death last Friday near his residence in Perambur, Chennai, by unidentified men. The police suspect the involvement of associates of gangster Arcot Suresh, who was murdered last year.

Additional Commissioner of Police (Law and Order), North Chennai, Asra Garg, stated that eight people have been arrested, and several weapons, including blood-stained ones, a Zomato t-shirt, a Zomato bag, and three bikes, were seized. The motive behind Armstrong’s murder is believed to be linked to the conspiracy theories surrounding the murder of Arcot Suresh.

The Chennai police have formed special teams to thoroughly investigate the case.
