Ahmedabad SG Pipers Win First Match in Ultimate Table Tennis 2024 Led by Captain Manush Shah
Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India – August 24, 2024: Captain Manush Shah led the Ahmedabad SG Pipers to their first victory in the Ultimate Table Tennis 2024 league. Shah defeated two-time Olympian Mihai Bobocica 2-1 and partnered with Bernadette Szocs to win the mixed doubles match with the same scoreline. The team from Ahmedabad triumphed over reigning champions Athlead Goa Challengers at the Jawaharlal Nehru Indoor Stadium in Chennai.
The franchise-based league is promoted by Niraj Bajaj and Vita Dani under the Table Tennis Federation of India (TTFI). The Ahmedabad SG Pipers started strong with Frenchman Lilian Bardet, who redeemed himself after a previous loss by defeating Harmeet Desai 3-0 in the first men’s singles match. Bernadette Szocs followed with a victory over Yashaswini Ghorpade in the women’s singles match.
In the mixed doubles, Manush Shah and Bernadette Szocs outplayed Harmeet Desai and Yangzi Liu, securing a 2-1 win. Shah’s subsequent win over Bobocica further solidified their lead. Manav Thakkar later defeated Andreas Levenko, clinching the win for U Mumba TT, while Orawan Paranang reduced the loss by defeating Maria Xiao.
Tomorrow, Dabang Delhi TTC will face Chennai Lions at 17:00, and U Mumba TT will play against Jaipur Patriots at 19:30.
